HOUSE of MATARÉ

The publication House of Mataré is published to mark the 20th anniversary of the dHCS scholarship. Together with the company de Haen-Carstanjen & Söhne, the Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen has been awarding several studio scholarships every two years since 2003, providing young graduates of the Düsseldorf Art Academy with a studio. Until 2021, the studios were located in industrial Düsseldorf-Reisholz. In 2022, the scholarship moved to the former studio house of sculptor Ewald Mataré in Meerbusch-Büderich, which Mataré himself used as a place to live and work until 1965. House of Mataré presents current and former scholarship holders and their work and brings together contributions by Guido de Werd, Rita Kersting, Pauline Schröer and Sophie von Hellermann on the eventful past and present of the Mataré House.
Text: Rita Kersting, Kathrin Bentele & Dietmar Lutz, Pauline Schröer, Sophie von Hellermann, Nicholas Grafia, Moritz Krauth, Mari van Stokkum & Franca Zitta, Aristilde Kirby, Banu Alpsü.
