Not related, Alex Wissel (Jg. 1983) and Stefan Wissel (Jg. 1960) yet on first sight share many characteristics. Both alumni of the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf they are living in Düsseldorf ever since, are working as artists and refer in their respective projects – each of them loosely based on the concept of (social) sculpture – to the relation of the individual towards society; moreover their obviously different oeuvres often thematize this commonly complex issue. On occasion of Stefan Wissel’s exhibition Bewegung 15. Juli at the Kunstverein the two artists want to promote a – public – conversation about individual approaches towards art and life, about interests and artistic working modes. The artist talk is held in German.
