The event is part of OFF THE RECORD, a series of events of the Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen, Düsseldorf to accomany this year´s exhibition program. The events open further perspectives on each year’s activities in generaland aim to react spontaneously to current discussions during screenings, performances, and lectures.

Noemi Smolik is a critic and writer on contemporary art and a curator, based in Bonn and Prag. Her writing appears in Artforum, frieze magazine, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, e-flux, Artblog-Cologne and she teaches art criticism and theory at the University of Cologne and Bonn.

Jan Verwoert is a critic and writer on contemporary art and cultural theory, based in Berlin. He is a contributing editor of frieze magazine and his writing has appeared in different journals, anthologies and monographs. He teaches at the Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam. He is a professor for theory at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and guest professor at the UdK Graduate School.

Lecture and conversation are organized in close collaboration with Cahier.
