Stefan Plaggenborg is historian. He is professor for Easter European History at the Ruhr-University in Bochum since 2007. He was teaching in Jena and Marburg and was active as a Fellow at the ‘‘Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies’‘. His research interests lie in the field of social history of the late tsarist empire, history of the Soviet Union, but also the history of violenc. In addition, he deals with comparative history of authoritarian regimes during the 20th century. In 2012 Plaggenborg published Ordnung und Gewalt. Kemalismus-Faschismus-Sozialismus (Oldenbourg Verlag).
